False stories travel much faster than truth

The average false story takes about 10 hours to reach 1,500 Twitter users, versus about 60 hours for the truth. On the average, false information reaches 35% more people that true news.
What is with the proliferation of bogus stories?
Is there a difference is the frequency of “bots” (automated accounts) and humans forwarding false information?
Does Russia play a role in the misinformation?
China and the Petro Yuan
